Olivia Hadley Kraus, affectionately also known as Liv, was
born on October 26, 2012, right before Hurricane Sandy.
Nothing like a hurricane herself, Liv was a sweet little baby,
much loved by her older siblings Gavin and Charlotte. Though
it’s Kraus family lore that Charlotte, age 20 months, asked
mom and dad when her new little sister would be returning to
the hospital. Olivia was named after her beloved great
grandfathers, Oscar Chodorow and Harry Mostowitz. Her
Hebrew name is Ora Hadas. In Jewish culture, Ora means
light, and is associated with joy and spiritual warmth. This is a
true testament to Liv’s beautiful and radiant personality. She is
also lots of fun to spend time with, has an awesome sense of
humor and an infectious laugh.
From a young age, Liv has been a natural problem solver.
When she was almost two, Gavin and Charlotte were
attempting to get a balloon down from the ceiling of our
living room . They were standing on tiptoe, jumping, which
included running jumps and grabs. Liv toddled over with
purpose, stopping only to grab one of the little chairs from the
kids’ table in the corner. She placed the chair directly under
the balloon, got herself up on the chair and grabbed the
balloon string, pulling it down to safety for her brother and
